Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has announced that he has been exposed to two assassination attempts recently, one of them on June 24th during the bicentennial anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo.
“They were preparing for the attack on June 24th during the celebration of the bicentennial of (the battle of) Carabobo: another drone attack that we foiled and neutralised,” the Venezuelan president said in a press release.
“I say this now for the first time, because the investigation is still going on,” he added
“There was an assassination attempt on July 5th during the parade, on the occasion of the signing of Venezuela’s Declaration of Independence,” Maduro explained.
The Venezuelan president survived assassination attempt in August 2018, when several drones loaded with explosives went to the platform where Maduro was present, injuring a number of his bodyguards.
The United States has been trying to overthrow Nicolas Maduro and before him his predecessor Hugo Chávez, for years, since the Socialist political project in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is considered a threat to US imperialist policies in South America.
