Oman reiterates support for peace efforts in Yemen

Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi has affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman supports all efforts and endeavours to bring peace to Yemen.

“We are deeply concerned about the suffering of the Yemeni people, and we support all efforts and endeavours to bring peace to our neighbouring country,” al-Busaidi said in statements to the Saudi newspaper Okaz, published in its issue on Sunday.

Regarding the Omani viewpoint on the Palestinian issue, al-Busaidi said, “The Palestinian people have been deprived of their legitimate rights for a very long time; that is why we constantly call for the realisation of a two-state solution based on UN resolutions, international law and the Arab Peace Initiative.”

Al-Busaidi said that he expects that the coming period will witness important developments between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman to achieve the common goals.

He noted that “the historic visit of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to the Kingdom last week has important strategic weight at the level of bilateral and regional relations.”
