A senior al-Qaeda leader has been killed on Monday in Shabwah province, southern Yemen.
This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on local sources.
According to local sources, the Emir of al-Qaeda in the so-called Bayhan district, Osman al-Bayhani, was killed along with six of his bodyguards while fighting in the ranks of the Saudi-led coalition forces against the Yemeni army in Aqbat al-Qantha’a area.
The sources said that the members of the organisation have still not found the body of their emir and his companions until this moment.
Last week, Yemeni forces took control of the Aqbat al-Qantha’a area overlooking Bayhan district in Shabwah province.
