At least eight Afghan soldiers killed in Taliban attack

At least eight Afghan soldiers have been killed and three were injured in a Taliban attack on a security checkpoint in Nangarhar province on Wednesday night.

“The Taliban launched an attack last night on a security checkpoint in the east of Nangarhar province, killing eight soldiers and injuring three others,” a security source told media.

Violence and fighting in Afghanistan have escalated as negotiations between the parties in the conflict stalled.

The Taliban confirmed the continued attack on security forces in most parts of the country, declaring that its fighters are taking control over most of the international border line.

However, the parties later agreed to spare civilians and infrastructure violence, as well as to speed up negotiations.
