Oman: “Israeli” oil vessel attack happened outside of Omani waters

The Sultanate of Oman has confirmed that the attack on the Israeli ship MV Mercer Street took place outside of Omani regional waters.

According to the Omani News Agency, the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) sent sorties over the incident site while the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) operated a vessel en route. Once the vessel owners and crew were contacted, they stated that the vessel would proceed to its destination without the need for further assistance.

The Sultanate affirmed its constant keenness on providing all resources to maintain safe passage for all in Omani regional waters.

An Israeli official blamed Iran for the attack on the MV Mercer Street oil tanker, in which two crew members were killed. The victims were identified as a Romanian and a British national.

The official noted that the attack might have been carried out by a drone.

Yesterday, Zionist Foreign Minister Yair Lapid promised a “harsh response” to the attack. “Iran is not only Israel’s problem, but the source of terrorism, destruction and instability that harms everyone,” he said in a statement.
