Joint exercises between Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have begun on Thursday at a training ground in Tajikistan that is located near the border with Afghanistan.
“The opening ceremony of the joint exercise with the military units of Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan took place in the Khatlon region of the Republic of Tajikistan,” the Russian Central Military Region said in a statement Thursday.
The joint exercises are scheduled to run from August 5 to 10, involving more than 25,000 troops and about 500 units of weapons and military equipment from the armed forces of Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
