Thousands of Afghans have gathered to flee Afghanistan at Kabul airport on Sunday and Monday, after the Taliban took control over the capital and prompted the US military to suspend evacuations.
Crowds poured into the airport in an effort to escape, with some climbing unto a US military transport plane as it was taking off from the runway.
Television footage showed that at least one person seemed to fall off of the plane after take-off.
The Washington Post quoted unnamed sources as saying that human remains were found in the wheel of a military plane after landing at its destination.
US forces also fired into the air, trying to deter people who tried to make their way unto a military flight meant to evacuate US diplomats and embassy staff, a US official said.
Afghans who collaborated with the US and NATO occupation forces prior to the Taliban victory of Sunday, have been living in uncertainty since the defeat of the US invaders. So far, the Biden administration has not clarified whether there is a detailed plan to evacuate the collaborators out of Afghanistan.
