The head of the Mahrah sit-in protest committee, Sheikh Ali Salem al-Harizi, has confirmed on Thursday the presence of Israeli military officers in Mahra province, east of Yemen.
This came during a news conference held by sheikhs of Mahrah to discuss the repercussions against continued foreign presence, and preparations to confront it in the governorates of Mahrah and Socotra.
Al-Harizi said: “Three Israeli enemy officers are present along with the British occupation forces at al-Ghaydah Airport, and we know that they want to attack us.”
For his part, Issa bin Yaqut, one of Socotra’s sheikhs, confirmed that the Israeli forces present on al-Ghaydah airport came to work for foreign intelligence services in the governorates of Mahrah and Socotra, under the cover of tourism.
The presence of British and Israeli forces in the two governorates is facilitated by Saudi and Emirati forces, and is meant to bolster their control strategic Yemeni areas and expand the circle of Israeli influence in the Arab region.
