Terrorist organisation Daesh (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the two explosions that rocked areas near Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul on Thursday.
The two explosions left more than 50 people dead, most of them Afghan civilians as well as 13 US soldiers, while more than 120 people have been injured.
According to Afghan sources, the bodies of the dead and injured were taken to hospitals, with women and children being among those affected.
Daesh is a sworn enemy of the Taliban, and the two organisations have fought bitter conflicts over the past years. The Taliban leadership has vowed swift punishment on those responsible for the attack.
