A number of the guards of the Interior Minister in the Saudi-led Hadi puopet government, Ibrahim Haidan, were killed or wounded during an attempt to assassinate the minister in Hadhramaut province on Thursday.
Informed sources said that the convoy of Haidan was exposed to an armed ambush on the road linking Seiyoun city and Al-Abr area.
According to the sources, the attackers opened fire at the minister’s car, after which his guards responded to the attack. Minister Haidan and his driver survived the attack, while a number of his guards were killed or wounded.
The sources did not mention accurate numbers of the victims in the armed ambush, nor the party behind the assassination attempt.
During the past months, Haidan’s house in Aden had already been subjected to several raids by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council militia, and a weapons store of his guards was previously looted.
