A senior security leader of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) has left Aden Airport suddenly on Sunday evening, after the attacks that hit the al-Anad mercenary airbase in Lahj province.
Shallal Shaya, who was recently appointed commander of the so-called Counter-Terrorism Forces of the mercenary unit and is considered the UAE’s security arm in the city, left Aden Airport and is reportedly headed for the Egyptian capital of Cairo according to local media.
Shaya’s apparent desertion came mere hours after large explosions at al-Anad base, which left more than 100 mercenaries dead or wounded.
