A photo released Tuesday by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) shows the last soldier of the US invasion and occupation force in Afghanistan to withdraw from the country.
On Monday, the United States said it had completed the withdrawal of its troops from Afghanistan.
The last American soldier to leave the country was Major General Chris Donahue, commander of the US Army 82nd Airborne Division, 18th Corps, who was seen boarding a C-17 cargo plane at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.
Upon his departure, the US mission to evacuate US citizens and Afghan collaborators with special immigrant visas has been completed.
More than 122,000 people have been airlifted from Kabul since August 14, the day before the Taliban regained control of the country.
Footage released by the Taliban shows soldiers of the resistance movement deploying in Kabul Airport as the last US military transport is seen flying away in the background.
