The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as the Taliban is officially called, has announced that they have taken the Panjshir Valley, until now the last area of Afghanistan not yet under their control.
“By the grace of Allah Almighty, we are in control of the entire Afghanistan. The troublemakers have defeated and Panjshir is now under our command,” said one Taliban commander.
Pansjhir was the last holdout of anti-Taliban forces in Afghanistan, and was led by Ahmad Shah Massoud, son of US – backed Northern Alliance leader Ahmad Massoud.
