A US team if the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrived in the port city of Aden in southern Yemen, informed sources said on Monday.
According to the sources, the FBI team arrived in Aden amid great secrecy in order to participate in the investigation into the murder of American national of Yemeni origin Abdul-Malik al-Sanabani.
Al-Sanabani arrived in Aden airport last Wednesday coming from the United States to visit his family in Yemen, but he was robbed and shot dead at a military post of the so-called 9th Brigade, which is affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).
Several American cities have witnessed vigils by Yemeni American and other Arab origin communities, with the participation of human rights and humanitarian organisations, denouncing the murder of al-Sanabani.
Al-Sanabani was returning to his family in Dhamar province in central Yemen, after years of living abroad in the United States. Due to the Saudi-led blockade on Yemen, commercial international travel is only possible through the airport in occupied Aden.
