The Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority (CAMA) had on Monday condemned the continuous and systematic targeting of Yemeni airports by Saudi-led coalition aircraft, the latest of which was bombing Taiz International Airport with several raids on Sunday.
CAMA Undersecretary Raed Talib Jabal, indicated that the targeting of Taiz airport occurred despite the fact that if was not even ready for flights, as a result of previous bombing by coalition warplanes.
Jabal denounced the bombing of civilian airports, which is a violation of international laws and norms, and condemned the continued international silence regarding the crimes of the Saudi-led aggression coalition.
He called on the international community to quickly break the siege imposed on Sana’a International Airport, in order to save the lives of patients and end the suffering of expatriates and those stranded abroad.
In the same context, Jabal also denied what was reported by some media in the coalition countries, which claimed that the closure of Sana’a airport came as a result of its use as a corridor for smuggling weapons.
He affirmed that the Sana’a Airport is a civil airport, and provides air navigation services to civil aviation in accordance with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
