Hundreds of citizens in Socotra island have organised a protest rally calling for Emirati occupation forces to leave the island.
According to local sources on the island, UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council militias imposed an armed cordon on the people of Socotra in the city of Hadibu, where people had gathered to condemn the environmental tampering and looting of the lands of citizens.
Additionally, the militias closed shops and outlets between Hadibu areas, in a bid to obstruct the gathering of demonstrators, thus imposing a state of emergency.
The sources added that the militia created several military checkpoints at the main entrances to Hadibu city, and prevented gathering crowds from entering the square.
The demonstrators stressed the continuation of the weekly protests, and say it will go on until the departure of all Emirati forces and their militias from the island.
