UN and US Envoy to Yemen arrive in Oman for meeting with Sana'a government

The US and UN Special Envoys to Yemen have arrived in the Omani capital of Muscat, coming from the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

Gulf media sources said the two envoys, who had completed a round of meetings in the Saudi capital in which they met with exiled Saudi-backed puppet ruler Abrabbuh Hadi as well as his government officials and Saudi figures, were preparing to meet with the a delegation of the National Salvation Government of Yemen led by Mohammed Abdulsalam.

US envoy Tim Lenderking and UN envoy Hans Grundberg arrived in Oman early Monday as part of a new round of efforts to push for a comprehensive peace process in the country that is still suffering from a seven-year-old Saudi-led war and blockade.

The two envoys had pre-empted the visit by mobilising international support for their tasks, which emerged with the statement of the ambassadors of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council as well as the Quartet. The statement of these nations which called for cooperation with the UN envoy, who has just begun his duties earlier this month.
