The Belharith tribes loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Shabwah province, southern Yemen, have taken control of a number of oil fields in the area on Monday night, after clashes with Hadi loyalists and Islah Party forces.

Tribesmen have taken control of a number of oil fields in Wadi Jannat, local sources said. They also seized weapons and a number of military pickup vehicles belonging to forces loyal to the Islah Party.
The sources added that the tribes of al-Arif in Usaylan reinforced the Belharith tribes with vehicles and fighters.
Dozens of Islah militants fled the newly created and nearby oil fields en masse during the battle.

Local sources reported that the clashes took place after gunmen of the Belharith tribes obstructed the advance of Islah militants towards the oil fields at the site of the Jannah Hunt Company in Usaylan district.
According to thesr sources, Islah militants and Belharith tribes exchanged fire on Sunday, resulting in several deaths and injuries on both sides.
