The United States of America has welcomed the new direct talks between the Saudi authorities and the new government of Iran, expressing “hope that this dialogue will reduce tension in the region.”
“We welcome Saudi Arabia’s announcement of direct talks with the new government of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said the US special envoy on Iran, Robert Malley, through Twitter on Monday evening.
“We hope that this dialogue will contribute to lowering tensions and addressing long-standing regional concerns. A joint full return to commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action will support these efforts.”
On Sunday, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, confirmed that the Kingdom held on September 21 a nee round of direct talks with the new government of Iran, as part of a negotiation process to reduce tension between the two countries.
