Southern Yemeni activist condemns STC crackdown on Aden population

Head of the southern Yemeni organisation called the Revolutionary Movement Council, Fouad Rashid, has condemned the arbitrary arrests launched by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias in the southern Yemeni city of Aden.

“The arbitrary arrests carried out by the STC in the district of Crater, affecting all houses and targeting young people, is an act of terrorism,” Rashid said on Twitter.

Rashid added that “the STC has turned the Crater distrust into a military barracks, through deploying armoured and military vehicles into the neighbourhoods and near its entrances.”

He affirmed that the study in schools was suspended in the district, describing the practices of the STC militias as” organised terrorism.”

Following the cessation of clashes between the STC forces and defecting Salafi leader Imam al-Nawbi in Crater, and after the latter managed to escape the district, STC militias carried out several raids on civilian homes and a large-scale campaign of arrests against the city’s youth, including journalists and activists.
