Yemeni forces advance near Ma'rib after fierce clashes with Saudi troops and al-Qaeda

Fierce battles took place north of Ma’rib city on Sunday, between forces of the National Salvation Government and the Saudi-led coalition forces and allied al-Qaeda militants on the other side, which left dozens of dead and wounded on both sides.

Local sources in Ma’rib told Yemen Press Agency that the Yemeni army forces launched a large-scale military attack from their positions in al-Kassara and the outskirts of Raghwan District, towards the sites of the coalition forces and al-Qaeda on the al-Alam front, northeast of Ma’rib city.

After fierce battles between the two sides, Yenebjbarmy forces managed to clear out Abu Al-Shad in the al-Alam area, overlooking the Safer oil road line east of the city of Ma’rib, the sources added.

In an attempt to stop the advance of the army forces from the north to the east, coalition warplanes launched several air raids on several areas of al-Alam al-Abyadh front and on the Abu al-Shad mountain.
