Yemeni diplomat Abdul-Malik al-Ajri has sent an official message to the leadership of the Saudi-backed Hadi puppet government in exile, on the occasion of the anniversary of the October 14 Revolution.
Al-Ajri addressed Hadi government’s officials by asking “Why do you not celebrate the October Revolution like you celebrate the one in September? Perhaps you do not want to hurt the feelings of the new and the old colonisers?”
October 14 is one of Yemen’s two official holidays marked as Revolution Day, as it marks the commemoration of the South Yemeni Revolution against British colonial rule. The other revolutionary holiday is September 26, celebrating the North Yemeni Revolution against the monarchy and the eventual establishment of the Yemen Arab Republic in the north.
The Saudi-backed Hadi puppet government has been plagued by fierce competition and even armed infighting with Emirati-supported South Yemeni separatists, which may explain its unwillingness to celebrate October 14.
