The holiday of Mawlid has been celebrated with religious fervour across Kashmir on Tuesday with larg day-long religious gatherings held at the revered shrine of Hazratbal where a relic of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was displayed for the devotees after every prayer of the day.
Thousands of devotees thronged Dargah Hazratbal for congregational prayers and had glimpses of the holy relic.
The official said that special arrangements were put in place for the devotees to celebrate the day.
The holiday of Mawlid marks the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad, and is observed annually on the 12th day of the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awal.
The official said that religious processions, special prayer meetings, and conferences were organised across Kashmir to celebrate the day.
