The Israeli occupation entity’s government has announced on Sunday that it intends to build more than 1,300 new illegal settlement units in the occupied West Bank.
The Zionist Ministry of Construction and Housing said that it had published tenders for the construction of 1,355 new housing units in what it called “Judea and Samaria”, (the term used by the Government of Israel to refer to the occupied West Bank).
According to the ministry’s statement, these new settlement units will be distributed among seven settlements, including Areel (729 units), Beit El (346 units) and Elkana (102 units).
Meanwhile, anti-settlement movement Peace Now confirmed that a committee is expected to convene next Wednesday to approve the construction of 2,800 more illegal housing units in the West Bank.
The Zionist construction of Jewish-only settlements in the West Bank of Palestine is a direct violation of international law, and remains officially condemned by most of the international community.
