Lebanese Minister of Information George Kurdahi has on Wednesday sent a stinging message to Saudi Arabia, criticising the pressure it put on Lebanon through its ambassador.
“We are a sovereign country, and no ambassador or any foreign country has the right to interfere in our affairs,” Kurdahi said during a meeting with the Lebanese media and journalists.
“It is not permissible for Lebanon to remain subject to blackmail, neither from countries, nor ambassadors, nor individuals,” he added.
Kurdahi stressed his adherence to his firm position towards his post and towards the Lebanese people, mocking those who call for his resignation.
“When someone asks me to resign, I tell him that I am part of a monolithic government.”
The Saudi state had previously threatened to sever its relationship with Lebanon, following Kurdahi’s latest statements, in which he said that he considered the Saudi war on Yemen an absurdity and calling for an immediate end to the conflict.
