Prime Minister of Iraq survives assassination attempt

Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kadhimi has survived an assassination attempt by a booby-trapped drone that targeted him on late Saturday night at his residence in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

According to Iraqi Security Media Cell, Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa al-Kadhimi was subjected to a failed assassination attempt. In a statement, the cell stated that “a failed assassination attempt against Prime Minister, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, by a booby-trapped drone, tried to target his residence in the Green Zone in Baghdad,” noting that “al-Kadhimi was not harmed.” He is in good health.”

The cell added that “the security forces are taking the necessary measures regarding this failed attempt.”
