The so-called Governor of Shabwah province appointed by the Saudi-led Hadi puppet government, Mohammed bin Adiu, has been the target of an attack at his home by unidentified gunmen, local sources reported on Tuesday.
The sources added that unidentified gunmen threw several hand grenades at bin Adiu’s house and fled.
The attack comes against the backdrop of a new re-escalation against the presence of UAE forces in the Balhaf gas export facility in the province, according to the sources.
The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) had warned against what they called provocations by Saudi-backed Islah Party forces led by bin Adiu.
These developments coincide with the approaching expiry of the deadline given by Islah to the UAE via Saudi mediation, in which they demanded the evacuation of Emirati troops and mercenaries from Balhaf facility.
