Ministry of Human Rights calls for punishment for those who murdered Yemeni prisoners of war

The Ministry of Human Rights of the Republic of Yemen has condemned ‘the brutal crime and terrorist act’ of US-Saudi mercenaries on the western coast, in which they shot and killed ten members of the Yemeni Army and the Popular Committees who had been taken as prisoners of war.

“This cowardly act comes in the context of the continued violations of the rules of international human rights and humanitarian law by the countries of aggression, especially of the Third Geneva Convention related to the protection of prisoners of war,” the ministry  said  in a statement.

The statement held the United Nations and its envoys in Yemen legally and morally responsible for this crime, denouncing their failure to take any legal action to prevent these crimes.

The ministry renewed its demands for the United Nations, especially the Security Council and its envoys, to abandon its prolonged silence and negligence regarding Yemen, and to seriously advance in the prosecution of war criminals in order to preserve the rights of the victims and end the policy of impunity for the perpetrators of crimes.
