UAE ship unloading equipment for establishment of Emirati-Israeli base on Yemeni Island

An Emirati ship has arrived on the Island of Abd al-Kuri, which belongs to the Yemeni archipelago of Socotra in the Indian Ocean, carrying heavy equipment and weapons.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on testimony of well-informed sources.

The UAE vessel unloaded heavy equipment on the island, which is meant for the establishment of a military base under the supervision of Israeli experts who were transported by helicopter to the occupied island.

Abd al-Kuri island is one of the most important islands near the Horn of Africa and is specifically of high economic importance, since it it the location of six oil sectors.

In August 2020, the US website SouthFront revealed the intention of the UAE and Israel to establish military and intelligence facilities on Socotra island.

The site quoted Arab and French sources as saying that a delegation of Emirati and Israeli officers visited the island and examined several locations with the purpose of establishing intelligence facilities.

An official document revealed that Abdul Salam Hamid, Minister of Transport in the Hadi puppet government, had granted an Emirati institution the right to establish its own runway on Socotra island.
