Emirati warships deployed near Shabwah province

Emirati warships have arrived on Thursday at the coast of the eastern Yemeni province of Shabwah, which is under the control of Islah Party forces loyal to Saudi-led coalition.

According to sources quotes by Yemen News Portal, the UAE deployed two warships off the coast of Mayfa’a, south of Ataq city, the capital of the Shabwah province.

The UAE reportedly provided warships as support to the Shabwah Elite militia of the Southern Transitional Council, coinciding with the announcement of the General People Congress (GPC)’s leading member, Awad al-Awlaqi, about an open sit-in protest by the tribes in the vicinity of Ataq city, the sources added.

Military observers considered the move as part of an Emirati plot to topple the Islah authorities through military means in the coming days.
