Abdul Malik al-Ajri, a member of the Yemeni National Negotiating Delegation, has said that Saudi and UAE rapprochement with Iran confirms the falsehood of Riyadh and Abu Dhabi’s justifications for their war on Yemen, since the Saudi-led invasion of 2015 was propagated as being a counter against of a perceived “Iranian threat.”
“After seven years of sabotage in Yemen under the pretext of an Iranian threat, the Hajj season has begun for Iran. Relations may return and it will only cost some finishing touches to embassies,” al-Ajri said in a tweet , commenting on the visit of UAE national security adviser Tahnon bin Zayed to Iran.
“We are not against regional rapprochement, rather we encourage it. But the question is what is the position of the mercenaries after they set Yemen back a hundred years through destruction while fighting an Iranian bogeyman that does not even exist” he added.
