Syrian Football Federation condemns violent behaviour of assistant coach towards Yemeni player

The Syrian Football Federation strongly condemned the act of violence committed by the assistant coach of the Syrian junior national team against a Yemeni player.

The Union said in a statement that “The temporary committee of the Syrian Arab Football Federation affirms its rejection of the disgraceful individual behavior carried out by the assistant of the team, Louay Othman, in the final match with Yemen in the West Asian Junior Championship held in Saudi Arabia.”

The statement indicated that it had taken strict procedures against Othman, by preventing him from accompanying any club or national team until further notice.

Louay Othman slapped Yemeni national team player Issam Radman right after Radman scored the winning goal for the Yemeni team, which provoked widespread anger and reactions.

Both Yemeni and Syrian activists on social media platforms denounced the behaviour of the Syrian assistant coach, and called for the termination of his employment.
