One Omani Navy sailor killed and one wounded during military exercises

The Sultanate of Oman has announced on Monday the killing of a conscript and the wounding of another during a joint naval maneuver with Pakistan in the latter’s territorial waters.

The official Omani News Agency reported the death of Navy Sergeant Ali bin Abdul-Rahman al-Balushi and the injury of Deputy Marine Corporal Sultan bin Salem al-Sulitani.

The agency said that the accident occurred “while performing a national duty onboard one of the ships of the Royal Navy of Oman, which is currently participating with the Pakistan Navy in joint military exercise The Good Fruit.”

The Omani agency did not mention the circumstances of the accident.

The Sultanate of Oman is conducting a joint naval exercise with Pakistan from December 13 to 18 in Pakistani territorial waters.
