A senior commander in the Saudi-led coalition forces was killed on Monday during clashes with Yemeni army forces at the southern entrance to Ma’rib city in eastern Yemen.
This was reported by Yemen News Portal on Sunday, based on the testimonies of local sources.
According to the sources, Major General Nasser al-Thaibani, commander of military operations in the pro-Hadi forces was killed in the front of al-Balaq in Ma’rib.
Al-Thaibani is considered the third-highest ranking official in Hadi’s forces, being field commander of the Saudi-led forces in Ma’rib.
He was known for his fiery remarks against the United Arab Emirates, accusing Abu Dhabi of deliberately targeting Hadi forces with airstrikes on the Sirwah front. His criticism of the Emiratis resulted in him being subjected to several assassination attempts, which he managed to survive.
