At least five people were killed and 124 others wounded as a result of celebratory gunfire on Monday in the capital Sana’a and provinces after the national junior football team won the West Asian Football Championship.
The Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Taha al-Mutawakkil, explained that many of the falling-bullet injuries are entered to intensive care, some of them critical and need surgical intervention.
“While we congratulate the Yemeni people for this victory, which brought joy to the hearts of its sons in light of the aggression and siege, we express regret for the injuries or deaths that occurred as a result of these uncalculated actions of those who do not realise its consequences,” he said.
He called on citizens to abide by the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badreddin al-Houthi, who directed positive interaction with events without engaging in celebratory gunfire.
