The ninth round of joint exercises between the Iranian Navy and its Omani counterpart began Thursday morning in Iranian territorial waters off the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman.
The naval maneuver came within the framework of am agreement between the two sides meant to carry out joint rescue and relief activities in the region of the Sea of Oman and the Strait of Hormuz.
Parts of the Iranian Navy, the Coast Guard and the Ports Maritime Navigation Organisation, as well as a group of Omani naval vessels, are participating in this round of maneuvers, with the backing of helicopters from both countries.
