The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Yemen, Hasan Irlu, has left Sana’a airport on Saturday aboard an Iraqi medical evacuation plane.
“The Iranian ambassador will be transferred to the Iraqi city of Basra,” a source at Sana’a International Airport said on condition of anonymity.
The source did not give further details of the ambassador’s health or other information.
The head of the Yemeni national delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam has confirmed the departure of the Iranian ambassador.

“An Iranian-Saudi understanding was reached through Baghdad, under which the Iranian ambassador to Sana’a was transferred on an Iraqi plane due to his health condition. The stories and speculations contained in some media are untrue,” Mohammed Abdulsalam said in an official message, denying foreign allegations of a diplomatic conflict between Yemen and Iran.
