Saudi Arabia claims new Yemeni drone attacks hit airbase

Saudi Arabia has on Sunday announced that it had been subjected to a new aerial attack, and accused the Yemeni Armed Forces of carrying out an attack on its territory.

A spokesman for the Saudi coalition said that Yemeni forces targeted Khamis Mushait in the southwest of Saudi Arabia, using an explosive-laden drone.

Arab media outlets reported on Sunday morning that the Yemeni Armed Forces had launched a drone operation against the Saudi coalition.

Although the Yemeni army has not yet commented on the attack, it seems it could be a resumption of large-scale operations launched by Yemeni forces last week, targeting strategic positions in several Saudi cities, most notably Riyadh.

The air attack coincides with large-scale ground operations by the Yemeni forces inside Saudi Arabia, in the provinces Jizan and Najran, according to media reports.
