Fierce clashes have broken out between gunmen belonging to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Yemen’s southern port city of Aden, local sources reported on Thursday.
Reportedly, clashes broke out between two security groups affiliated with the STC in al-Khamseen Street in the city centre, following disputes over financial royalties.
The sources said the clashes left a number of injured on both sides.
Differences within the STC have been escalating recently, in conjunction with UAE efforts to break up the Southern Transitional Council according to changing political and military desires of Abu Dhabi.
