The UAE authorities have caused a diplomatic incident by sending a minor official to receive Moeen Abdul-Malik Saeed, the so-called Prime Minister of the Saudi-backed Hadi government-in-exile of Yeme, who arrived in Abu Dhabi on Friday for a visit that lasted several days.
It was remarkable that a minor official at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Khalifa Shaheen, was the one receiving Moeen Abdul-Malik Saeed, which constitutes a major violation of diplomatic norms.
Saeed arrived in the UAE capital for talks with UAE officials on developments after the Yemeni Islah Party was removed from Shabwah province, political sources said.
He is set to discuss Emirati assistance for his regime, after meeting the UAE’s demands to remove Islah from Shabwah province, according to the sources.
