Yemen calls on UN ceasefire mission to halt Saudi plans to bomb Hodeidah port

Head of the National Team for Redeployment, Major General Ali Hamoud al-Mushki, has on Sunday called on the UN Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA) to take a clear position on Saudi-led coalition’s threat of targeting Hodeidah port.

During his meeting today in the port of Hodeidah with the Deputy Head of UNMHA, Daniela Kroslak, Major General al-Mushki reviewed the provocative actions of the coalition forces and their bombings of residential areas which resulted in civilian casualties.

Al-Mushki expressed his regret for the inaccuracies contained in the statements of the Saudi-led coalition spokesman about the Hodeidah port, which was meant to pave the way for new attacks on the port.

Hodeidah harbour is the main artery for the entry of food, medicine and humanitarian aid for more than 70 percent of the Yemeni people.

Major General Ali Hamoud al-Mushki called on the UN mission to “play its humanitarian role and take a firm decision to prevent maritime piracy on fuel and food ships, which the aggression coalition countries are seizing as a means of pressure in their war against the Yemeni people.”
