UN preparing to inspect Hodeidah port

The United Nations has on Tuesday confirmed that it is ready to inspect the ports of Hodeidah in order to verify the Saudi-led coalition’s accusations of Yemen using the ports for military purposes.

The UN Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA) account on Twitter said: “The mission notes with great concern the allegations regarding the use of Hodeidah ports for military purposes.”

“The mission has requested inspection procedures, which are part of its mandate, and stands ready to address the concerns of the militarisation of the ports,” the account added.

The UN mission stressed that “these ports are a lifeline for millions of Yemeni citizens,” and called on the parties to resolve this issue while adhering to a policy of restraint.
