Armed groups have launched a large-scale attack on a department of security forces affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Lahj province, southern Yemen on Wednesday.
According to local sources, the STC-controlled Security Department in al-Habilin district was attacked by unknown assailants.
The gunmen fired a hail of bullets at the gate of the Security Department building and fled, killing and wounding members of the security services, the sources explained.
On Monday, unidentified gunmen launched a similar attack on the STC’s militia in the Habilin district.
Lahj province has been experiencing significant security chaos in recent times, as the conflict between various coalition-backed parties for control and influence escalates.
