Eight people killed in Turkish attack on northern Iraq

At least eight people were killed and many others injured in Turkish airstrikes in northern Iraq, Iraqi media reported.

“Eight people were killed and several others injured in an initial bombing of Turkish aircraft targeting a camp in the northern Iraqi city of Makhmour in Erbil province,” al-Sumaria News quoted an Iraqi security source as saying.

An Iraqi security source said that about 20 Turkish raids targeted areas in northern Iraq.

In August, Turkish regime forces shelled several areas in the northern Iraqi province of Duhok, displacing Iraqi families and causing significant material damage to their property as part of the regime’s ongoing attacks under the pretext of targeting the Kurdish separatist organisation PKK. The Turkish attacks on Iraqi soil are a violation of international law and of the national sovereignty of Iraq.
