Violent battles have taken place on Saturday between the Yemeni army forces on one side and Saudi-led coalition forces and their mercenaries on the other, southwest of Ma’rib city, amid reports of dozens of dead and wounded on both sides.
Local sources in Ma’rib told Yemen Press Agency that the Yemeni army forces launched a large-scale military attack from their positions in the eastern Balaq Mountains regions and Al-Faliha area towards the sites of the coalition forces on the outskirts of Abidah valley.
After fierce battles between the two sides, the army forces managed to purify the strategic Erg Moa’zez area, southwest of Ma’rib city, from Saudi-led control.
The Erg Moa’zaz area has great strategic importance,as it is the crossroads of major supply routes to many of the fronts south of the city, linking Al-Jubah district with Abidah valley and the eastern Balaq Mountains.
