Mass protests block Aden streets in response to gas crisis

Protesters have on Saturday evening closed the main streets in Yemen’s southern port city of Aden, local sources said.

According to local sources in the city, the protesters closed down the main street in Al-Mualla district, as part of a protest against the lack of domestic gas in recent weeks.

The sources confirmed that most of the residential neighbourhoods in the city are suffering from a gas crisis, with the Saudi-led occupation authorities refusing to solve the problem.

The protesters explained that citizens have not received domestic gas for more than two months, while at the same time gas is still being sold at the black market by brokers who often work cooperation with local political figures

Aden has been experiencing a near total collapse of various basic services as well as a terrible security chaos since the Saudi-led coalition militia took control of the city in 2015.
