Disagreements have escalated on Thursday between the allies of the UAE in Shabwah province, eastern Yemen, leading to the removal of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s flags from one of its camps in the province.
Tribal sources reported that elements affiliated with Tariq Afash, the leader of the pro-UAE factions on the western coast of Yemen, had toppled STC flags from Al-Alam camp in the east of Shabwah.
The source pointed out that the downing of the STC flags took place under the directives of the new commander of the camp.
The event comes hours after the camp was emptied of the so-called Shabwah Defence Forces, in which troops affiliated with the STC participated, and were transferred to Ain district on the fighting fronts west of Shabwah.
