Unknown gunmen have assassinated Saeed Saleh bin Adio, the brother of the former Saudi-appointed governor of Shabwah province, on Saturday morning, local media reported.
“Earlier this morning, tribal gunmen assassinated Said Saleh bin Adio after he left his home in Laqmoush area, west of Shabwah province, about 50 kilometres from the city of Ataq,” local sources said.
“The gunmen fired a hail of bullets on bin Adio’s car, killing him instantly and wounding two of his companions,” the sources explained .
According to the sources, the murder took place against the backdrop of tribal revenge in the area. The perpetrators are still at large.
So far, no official statement has been issued by the local authorities about the incident and the motives for the assassination .
