Former Shabwah governor accuses UAE of assassinating his brother

Former governor of Shabwah, Mohammed Saleh bin Adio, has on Sunday accused the United Arab Emirates of being behind the assassination of his older brother, Saeed bin Adio.

Bin-Adio, who is loyal to the Saudi-backed Islah Party, said that the killing of his brother came within the framework of an Emirati response to his political stances.

“Governor bin Adio published an obituary message, in which he talked about the killing of his brother as a retaliation for the policies he enacted when he was governor, noting that he had always refused what he called “sinful, catastrophic and destructive plans” during his tenure.

He said that the assassination of his brother was aimed at undermining his resolve, his political position and his principles.

On Saturday, gunmen had opened fire at Saeed Saleh bin Adio while he was leaving his house in the Khobar Laqmush area of the Habban district, killing him and wounding three others.
