Iranian Foreign Minister addresses suffering of Yemen during meeting with UN General Secretary

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has stressed the importance of the role played by the General Secretary of the United Nations in resolving the crisis in Yemen and end the aggression and war in this country.

This came during a meeting between Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and United Nations General Secretary António Guterres.

“Concerning the current situation in Yemen,” he said, “the issue of Yemen has reached a critical point, and efforts must be intensified to resolve the political crisis and prevent the continuation of the humanitarian catastrophe.”

“Emphasizing the humanitarian views and concerns of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the crisis and the continuation of the war in Yemen,” the General Secretary of the United Nations said, indicating that “the continuation of this humanitarian catastrophe is inappropriate for the world,” and stressing the need for “the return of peace and stability to this country and the Yemeni people.”

“All parties and states must help achieve a political solution in Yemen,” the General Secretary added.
